What is Meditation?

Meditation!!! A word, which is ruling the world for a long time. One might have come across a situation when people suggest meditation as a remedy. Cure-all is a name for a medicine, which is supposed to cure all the problems. Anxiety, Stress, Anger, Personal Development, Concentration and finally living at the moment - for all these, meditation is a best remedy. So what exactly is meditation? - A medicine? or a treatment method? or mind technique? or something related to spiritual teachings? In this post, I have tried my best to explain about meditation and its benefits as simple as possible, Definition of Meditation: Many gurus already well defined the term meditation . Let's see some of them, "Meditation is an unbroken flow of thoughts towards the object of concentration like pouring of oil from one vessel to another in a steady unbroken stream." - Patanjali Rishi "Meditation means the mind is turned back upon itself. The mind stops all the thought-waves and t

What I learned today (14/04/2021) - What is Procrastination and How to deal with it?

Let it be career growth or personal growth, everyone thrives to be successful, but only few achieve it.  Do you know WHY?? There are so many factors in deciding success. Even-though some of the factors are unknown or visible only after the results, some known factors plays a major role in one's life ambitions. Few of them are Habits, Attitude and Skill-set. These visible factors can lead your life to upside or downside. Today I am going to share about one of the factor which will lead you to your downside if not corrected.  PROCRASTINATION!!! What is Procrastination? It simply means postponing the tasks. When we set targets, actionable tasks born. When we try to postpone the tasks, we lose our success rate.  What will happen when we procrastinate?  We have goals and, to achieve them, we set targets. When we set targets, we set daily/weekly/monthly/yearly tasks to achieve the target. We will be successful when we complete the tasks within the time limit.  When we procrastinate a tas

What I Learned today (06/04/21) - How and Where to start in Personal Development?

Most of us know, what is Personal Development and why personal development is important. But how to start and where to start? There are so many books and blogs on Personal Development.  I have started to read a few of them in the past week, and all of them tells us the same conclusion on where to start. Personal Development may be defined in my own term  'Improving our personal self in a way either it can be in skills or in wealth or in knowing and increasing the potential'. So basically it is a change, a change in behaviour, a change in habit or a change in lifestyle or a change we need to see in the world. Where all it needs to be started? Does it need a push from environment? Most of the times, the push from our environment change us.  But the best changes always happens from inside, same to the Personal Development. If it starts from within, it helps us to reach new heights. Let it be learning a new skill, or changing a habit, or gaining wealth, all needs to start with a p

What I Learned today (03/04/21) - Will getting up early make you successful?

Everyday is a new opportunity to learn. Yesterday it was Mindset and Today it is about the habits of successful people. I was reading various articles about successful people's habits and the quite common one among all of them are 'Wake up Early everyday'.  Yes, we know, it is a good habit, but how it make a person successful? While reading those articles, I also had a doubt. I personally know many early risers but most of them are not successful (at least in the common point of view) and few of them, they even have low self-esteem.  Then how can we tell, the above point is true? I dug some more, where I found an important thing.  Not most of the early risers are considered as successful people, but most of the successful people are early risers.  Means, not only raising early give success, but how we make use of the time and plan for the day, once we wake up gives the boost we needed to be successful. I can wake up early in the morning and play a game for 3 hours before s

What I Learned today (02/04/21) - Is it possible to get positivity from a boring environment?

Be Positive... Stay Positive... We have heard these words almost from every positivity blogs, videos and speeches.  And whenever we read, watch those articles, we have a gush feeling but when we turn to reality that feeling fade. While seeing a pile of papers at our desk or long meetings in our calendar or thinking about the repetitive work, we feel drained and wonder, how to be positive in a boring day life. But what if someone tells you that you can be actually be positive and also change that boring life into an enthusiastic one, do you believe? It is what I learned today. I have come across a tweet about getting a targeted amount of followers.  What is new in it? Won't everyone in social media is thriving for the same?  Everyone tries to become popular, but only few masters it. The tweet I have read is about how the person is planning to gain followers, an open strategy he tweeted.  If you are in social media and started with zero (if you are not a popular person), you know th

What Srini Learned today (01/04/21) - Is it possible to be rich and contented?

"Disclosure: Some of the links below are affiliate links, that means, at no additional cost to you, I will earn a commission if you click and purchase from the links."   There is a saying 'If you didn't learn anything new in a day, you have wasted the day' . So I am planning to learn something new everyday and share it with you all.  What I learned today? I started reading the book 'The Psychology of Money' (Affiliate link) by Morgan Housel. In the beginning of the book, there is a comparison between two men.  First one, 'Ronald Read' who was a Gas station attendant and Janitor for a long period of time but using tiny savings, made a fortune of $8 million . On the other hand, 'Richard Fuscone' - a Harvard MBA, Vice Chairman of a finance institute, went broke in his late years. I am always an avid reader of self development books. But this story changed something in my perception . I am  not gonna dive into who's policy is right a

Srini's Nice reads

"Disclosure: Some of the links below are affiliate links, that means, at no additional cost to you, I will earn a commission if you click and purchase from the links."   What is the first step of success?   People used to say failure is the first step of success but I beg to differ. Trying is actually the first step of success.  Plenty of people dreams about something they want to achieve, but have not started yet. Do you know why? The Fear of failure. The fear of failure comes, when we don't believe in ourselves. Henry Ford quote that " if you think you can or you can't, you are right ". So people who believe they fail, always think about failure and they won't start their dream projects.  Now we may have a question, How to believe in ourselves? To be frank, we need someone to tell us that we are worthy of our dreams and capable to achieve what we need if we feel low. But in realty, the people who surround us judge our efforts by their capacity and ac

A Belief can change life

In the last post ' Path to Success ', we discussed about success. As a small recap, let's see the steps, 1. Belief 2. Setting Goal 3. Targets 4. Time Management In this post, lets see briefly about Belief .  What is a Belief? A belief is something we feed to our mind. It may be a scientific fact or a religious fact, but until you believe it is true, it is strongly recorded in your mind. How it will help in getting success? Believing, that you will be succeed, is the first step in getting success. If you don't even believe in yourself, who is gonna believe you? Let me try to explain the relation between the belief and success. Psychological experts divide our mind into two parts, conscious and subconscious minds. Conscious mind is argumentative . But subconscious mind is passive . Whatever you feed to your conscious mind, it will be accepted by your subconscious mind. Subconscious mind follows the orders and make the environment according to our belief. In Dr. Joseph

Path to Success

SUCCESS!!! There are a lot of blogs, videos, and courses trying to explain what is success and how to achieve it . This is an intro post for a series of posts about my personal experience/thoughts about Success and how I am trying to achieve it.  I have read a lot of books on self-development and a common link between all of them in one word is ' belief ' .     If you want to get succeed, you have to believe that you will succeed.  But is the belief enough? No Without action, it is just a belief. How to make your belief into some action, which will make you succeed in your passion or work? Where to start and what to start? Here comes the major part - Goal Setting . If you turn your belief into a Goal, it becomes achievable.  Once Goal setting is done, if you set the roadmap for your goal with daily, weekly, monthly Targets, it becomes actionable. It may sound a little boring, but slicing the goals into small achievable action items makes it easier to achieve the larger goa

Srinisspace - Happy Life

The Farmer and The Saint: There is an interesting story about a farmer, which explains what is happiness.  The Farmer: There was a farmer in a village who always worried about his household. He had a big family with 10 members and all of them lived in a simple hut.  The Saint: To that very same village, a Saint came. For a few days, He stayed under a big banyan tree. People from and around the village came to see him and get his blessings. So our farmer also went to seek blessings from the saint. The saint asked the farmer to come near and asked about his wellness.  The farmer explained his difficulties in his household and asked his blessings. The Saint thought for some time and asked the farmer to tie the sheeps he had inside his hut for a month and he will be returning to see the farmer again. The farmer did the same for a month and since his hut was so small it just increased the difficulties he had. But he was keen on following Saint's order and waiting for Saint's return

Srinisspace - First Post

When I was a kid, I used to read a lot of stories. Let me try to explain one of them. Three Fishes And Their Fate:  There are three fishes in a pond and they are friends. They live in that pond for a long time. Their name are Wise, Reactive and Lazy. Three Fishes: Wise usually predicts the future and alerts its friends. Reactive only acts when something happened. Lazy reacts slowly and often accepts whatever happens as fate. The Fate: One day, some fishermen came to the pond, talked about catching fish in the pond the next day. On hearing this, Wise approached the other two and asked them to come with it to escape to the nearest pond through a channel.  Reactive replied that Wise is overreacting and it will do something if something happens and Lazy, not at all interested in leaving the pond. So the Wise escaped from the pond through a channel. The next day, the fishermen came and started to capture the fishes. On seeing this, the Reactive approached the Lazy and asked to come with him
