What is the first step of success?

People used to say failure is the first step of success but I beg to differ. Trying is actually the first step of success.

Plenty of people dreams about something they want to achieve, but have not started yet. Do you know why? The Fear of failure.

The fear of failure comes, when we don't believe in ourselves. Henry Ford quote that "if you think you can or you can't, you are right". So people who believe they fail, always think about failure and they won't start their dream projects.

Now we may have a question, How to believe in ourselves? To be frank, we need someone to tell us that we are worthy of our dreams and capable to achieve what we need if we feel low. But in realty, the people who surround us judge our efforts by their capacity and actions. So, all we need is a company of a good friend/people.

Getting company of good people is rare, so we have to cling to those people when we find one. What if I tell you an easy way to get a good friend who only motivates you, tells you that you can do whatever you want and you have no limits?

Did this friend exist? Yes. There are hundreds of thousands of these friends exists, but we ignore them and choose to stay in negativity.

If you ask "Why I couldn't see them or get a one, when I need?", the answer is simple. You couldn't search properly or you weren't introduced to them by another good one.

I don't want to confuse further and as a good friend to you, I am introducing few of them, so you can get as much positivity as possible from them. Again want to rephrase it "Sky is the only limit on how much you can learn from them".

"A Good Book is like a Good friend" - Charlie Lovett
I share three of the best books (friends), I feel have a positive impact on my life,

"Think And Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill, "The Power of Your Subconscious Mind" by Dr. Joseph Murphy and "The Richest Man in Babylon" by George S. Clason.

Think and Grow Rich tells us a lot of inspirational stories about people who used their belief to achieve their goal and how can we use it to achieve our. Think and Grow Rich is one of my best friend I visit often.

The Power of Your Subconscious Mind is all about the importance of subconscious mind and how can we tweak it to achieve our goals. In simple words, it express that when our mind is ready to accept the success, the whole universe conspires to make it happen

The Richest Man in Babylon is short stories about the Babylon but teaches us very valuable lesson on Becoming Wealthy. When I read it, I wondered how come the same principles can be very effective even after 4000+ years of a civilization. The knowledge it gives about getting rich are very valuable. One should read this book in the early stage of employment or entrepreneurship. If missed, the right time is now.

When I tried to find some best personal development books for entrepreneurs, I came across a bundle of 4 books "World’s Greatest Books For Personal Growth & Wealth" in amazon, having the above three with an another unknown friend "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie. I haven't introduced myself to the fourth one yet and will tell you about it once I formerly introduced.

In the last post 'Path to Success', we discussed about success. As a small recap, let's see the steps,

1. Belief

2. Setting Goal

3. Targets

4. Time Management

In this post, lets see briefly about Belief

What is a Belief?

A belief is something we feed to our mind. It may be a scientific fact or a religious fact, but until you believe it is true, it is strongly recorded in your mind.

How it will help in getting success?

Believing, that you will succeed, is the first step in getting success. If you don't even believe in yourself, who is gonna believe you?

Let see the relation between the belief and success.

Psychological experts divide our mind into two parts, conscious and subconscious minds. Conscious mind is argumentative. But subconscious mind is passive. Whatever you feed to your conscious mind, it will be accepted by your subconscious mind.

Subconscious mind follows the orders and make the environment according to our belief. In Dr. Joseph Murphy's words  'Subconscious mind is a soil and whatever belief are thought you sow, you reap the same'.

If you feed the fear of failure, anger and other negative thoughts to it, you will have same in your environment. If it is fed with positive thoughts such as Success, Joy, Health and Harmony, you will receive the same in your environment.

You may ask how a thought in mind change my environment?

Even-though it is not scientifically proven, so many people felt that 'When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it'. But you need to have a strong will and belief.

when you have a belief, your mind, without your knowledge search the opportunities and open them for you.

May be the story of Edwin Barnes, a broke young man with a strong will to become Edison's partner can tell us, how our belief, can create and use opportunities presented to us by the Universe.

If you haven't read yet, I strongly recommend you to read 'The power of your subconscious mind' by Dr. Joseph Murphy and 'Think and Grow Rich' by Napoleon Hill to understand how the subconscious mind works.

How to have a strong belief about my Goal?

There are so many techniques to train your mind. Let me explain few of my favorite techniques.

1. Write down your goal or what you want to achieve in a paper with a timeline and paste it somewhere you see often. If it is the first and last thing you see on your day, it will be good.

The idea behind this method is, your mind will observe the goal every time you see. And the mind will think about the last thing it saw before bed and so you can use this to feed the subconscious mind.

If it is the first thing you see in the morning, you start the day with your goal in mind and it will help you organize your targets for the day.

2. The second method is Visualization. Every night, before getting into sleep, visualize yourself in a position that you have achieved your goal.

If you want to buy a car, visualize yourself with the car. This visualization, before sleep will feed your subconscious mind. It is one of the powerful technique.

3. In this method, relax yourself and repeat in your mind that you have all the potential to achieve your goal and you have started to achieve it. At least 3 times a day repeat the same words as much as possible.

The effectiveness of this method depends on the confidence and the emotion you have, when you say the words.

If you continuously feed your subconscious mind, it will start believing and it will push you towards your goal.

It will make the opportunities and it will prepare you for your goal. Also the universe will start to bend itself for you to achieve your goal.

All you need to do is, spare 30 minutes daily to prepare your subconscious mind. You can feel the difference once it started to believe in your idea.

Again, in the tough road to success, it is just a beginning. But all the achievements starts with the simple steps. All we need is belief in our-self.

I am concluding this post with the famous quote from Henry Ford, 'Whether you think you can or you can't, you are right'.

In the next post, we will see in brief about Goal Setting and why it is important.

SUCCESS!!!

There are lot of blogs, videos, and courses trying to explain what is success and how to achieve it. This is an intro post for a series of posts about my personal experience/thoughts about Success and how I am trying to achieve it.

I have read a lot of books on self-development and a common link between all of them in one word is 'belief'.

If you want to get succeed, you have to believe that you will succeed.

But is the belief enough? No

Without action, it is just a belief. How to make your belief into some action that will make you succeed in your passion or work? Where to start and what to start?

Here comes the major part - Goal Setting. If you turn your belief into a Goal, it becomes achievable.

Once Goal setting is done, if you set the roadmap for your goal with daily, weekly, monthly Targets, it becomes actionable. It may sound a little boring, but slicing the goals into small achievable action items makes it easier to achieve the larger goal.

Once we have these targets set, we have a clear picture of where we stand and what is the next step. And completing small targets will give a feeling of accomplishment which will further motivate us towards our goal.

Most people set goals and targets but they are not able to achieve their goal and they dropped in the middle. Do you know what is the reason? Targets

Targets can give you a feeling of accomplishment when you achieve them but can break your self-esteem if you don't complete them in a timely manner. When your self-esteem reduces, you will have a doubt in your belief and eventually drop it after some time.

Again, it all because of your belief. When you believe you can and when you believe you cannot, both are true.

Then how to make sure that our self-esteem is not getting low? Simply by achieving the targets, as per our schedule. Here comes the major player in success - Time Management.

Most successful people, knowingly or unknowingly have the habit of dedicating time to their goal. Time management plays a vital role in achieving your goals.
It simply means, using your time wisely to be more productive and making time for all necessary tasks. If we have clear targets and managed our time effectively, then we have almost achieved half of our goal. With skill development, Hard-work and Perseverance, we can accomplish our goal. It may sound easy, but it is actually a rough road.

BUT NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE !!

As a recap, below are the steps we needed in achieving anything in our life.

2. Setting Goal

3. Targets

4. Time Management

We will see in deep about them in our next posts in the series.
