Beyond the Rules: Why to Create Your Own Mental Techniques - WSLT#4
Today I have learnt about few more methods in training subconscious mind.
Techniques to Train the Subconscious Mind
Some of them are,
Baudoin technique - A way in which we relax the body and go to half sleep state and repeat the idea often so the subconscious mind will pick it up to work on it.
Thank you technique - A prayer like method in which thank the god for what you want with a feeling that you already got it.
The affirmations method - By repetitive affirming of ideas to penetrate into our subconscious mind.
And few others too..
The central point of these techniques are to seed the idea or thought to the subconscious mind. It may similar to the idea of film Inception. Jokingly, if we ever had a technique used in Inception film to seed an idea to our mind, it would be great. But it doesn't mean we only have these techniques documented or preached by these gurus.
My logic is, follow whatever works for you and even create new techniques if possible. This is what humans are good at I hope.
Why Personalization Matters
The best thing about humans is, everyone is unique. When people can be generalized, that doesn't mean all will fit in some categories. Because, when we feel similar to others, we also try to distinguish ourselves from the crowd always.
I remember studying some human psychology from an article, that humans first social crave will be to be part of a social group(Need to belong). If left alone, it will cause series damage to his self portrayal. But once part of any group, he/she will try to portray him/herself as unique in that group(Need for uniqueness). This is a common behavior.
If we think about it, it conveys an idea, I want to be part of a group but I also want to be unique inside the group. In psychology it is referred as a balance between assimilation (fitting in) and differentiation (standing out).
Why we are discussing about this psychology is, even though all looks similar and wanted to be treated as same, all of us have some unique traits and crave to be admired. Our biggest asset is our cognitive skills and it differentiates each and everyone of us.
Personally, I never try the same what is preached when it comes to these techniques. I try out new things and settle for what works for me.
For example, prayers are kind of affirmation + thank you technique and visualization is a different one. Why cant someone try to merge it? If someone visualize a scene in which he converse to the god and get blessings for something he wants to accomplish, it combines all three in my view.
Our techniques are limited by our creativity. And main point about seeding subconscious mind is, to make it believe the idea of yours, not about the way you use. So, as long as it is inside the boundaries of everyone's wellness, why cant we try new things?
In my experience, when I try something new and believe it’s working, it becomes easier to convince my mind of future ideas. It makes my work easy.
A Cultural Analogy: Dress Codes and Mental Techniques
If we take the various cultures and their dress codes, the basic point is, we need dress but depends on the climate, creativity and the rooted cultural differences, we have variety of dress types in world.
When people from hot climates invented loose-fitting clothes, the people from cold regions preferred tight dresses which prevent air circulation. I think its the finest example of how a common idea is expressed by individual groups with different perceptions. We can't tell one dress code is right or wrong.
We can't go to a balanced climate place and tell them they should choose anyone of the above mentioned styles. Both are inconvenient for them. They may take what good for them from both and create their own designs. Its just how they perceived and what is convenient for them.
Its just my point of view. You can take it or if you want to stick to traditional methods, its perfectly fine, because you have to try what works for you, what worked for others. That's my point.
This is the end of WSLT#4. If you think my view is not reasonable, I'd love to hear your perspective. And if you are someone enjoy experimenting, share what you have tried or plan to try, your experience might inspire someone else.
